Resources for Prevention
While we do not directly partner with these organizations, they are very useful for research and prevention, and can certainly assist in trying to understand the scale of the issue.
INTERNET CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN TASK FORCE PROGRAM
The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program is a crucial national network, comprising 61 task forces and over 5,400 law enforcement officials. Established in response to the escalating use of the Internet by children and the alarming availability of child sexual abuse imagery online, ICAC focuses on investigating, prosecuting, and responding effectively to internet crimes against children. Task force agencies engage in both proactive and reactive measures, conducting forensic examinations and pursuing criminal prosecutions to combat exploitation and abuse online. By collaborating with
state and local agencies, ICAC strengthens law enforcement’s ability to address various forms of online victimization effectively.
Moreover, ICAC recognizes the importance of public awareness and education in preventing internet crimes against children. Since its inception in 1998, ICAC Task Force members have conducted over 194,000 community outreach presentations nationwide, raising awareness about the risks of online exploitation. The program also offers a range of educational resources compiled by the ICAC Task Force Public Awareness Working Group. These resources are designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the online world safely. Furthermore, ICAC provides essential training programs to federal, state, and local agencies through its training providers. These programs, including webinars, in-person courses, and e-learning modules, empower law enforcement officials with the skills and techniques necessary to combat technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation effectively. By fostering interaction with subject matter experts and ensuring access to valuable resources without the constraints of travel expenses, ICAC supports the continuous professional development of its members. In summary, the ICAC Task Force Program adopts a comprehensive approach to tackle internet crimes against children, emphasizing collaboration, public awareness, and education. Through its concerted efforts, ICAC strives to protect children from online exploitation and ensure their safety and well-being in the digital age
